Contact Actions
Settings of LeadPattern bot contact actions: Assign Agent, Add/Remove Tags, Set/Remove Attributes, Add to Broadcast List, Close Conversation and Opt Out.
Contact actions change the contact or the conversation rather than sending a message. Each has a single output that continues to the next node. Changes made by a bot don't fire the matching triggers (for example, a bot closing a chat doesn't start an On Close Conversation bot), but they do appear in the contact's activity and fire your outbound webhooks.
Assign Agent (assign_agent)
Hands the conversation to a team member.
| Field | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Assign method | Random picks any eligible agent. Round Robin rotates through them in turn. | None selected — choose one (without a choice it behaves as random) |
| Select agents | The agents to choose from. Has a search box and Select All / Deselect All. | None selected = all active members |
| Re-assign if already assigned | Allow moving a chat that already has an owner. | Off |
How it behaves:
- Only active team members with a linked account are eligible.
- Chat already assigned and Re-assign is off → the step is skipped and the flow continues.
- With Re-assign on, the current assignee is excluded from the draw when there's more than one agent to pick from.
- Round robin keeps a counter per node that never resets, so rotation continues across contacts.
- If nobody is eligible, or the picked agent is already the owner, the step is skipped.
- Assigning updates the inbox live, sends the chat assigned webhook and logs the assignment. It does not fire the On Agent Assign trigger.
Activation: a warning if no agents are selected; errors for deleted or inactive agents.
Add / Remove Tags (add_remove_tags)
| Field | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Action | Add or Remove the selected tags. | Add |
| Tags | Tick tags from the list, or type a name in New tag name and press Create/Enter to make one on the spot. | None |
- No tags selected: nothing happens (and activation errors).
- Tags the contact already has (for add) or doesn't have (for remove) are skipped and logged as such; webhooks and activity are recorded only for tags that really changed.
- Adding a tag also triggers any Meta Conversions tag rule you set for that tag.
Set / Remove Attributes (set_remove_attributes)
Works on one attribute per node — add several nodes for several attributes.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Action | Set or Remove. |
| Attribute | A custom attribute, shown as "Name (Type)". |
| Value | Shown only for Set. The input matches the type: a number box, a date picker (YYYY-MM-DD), a dropdown of the list's options, or text. |
- The value is saved exactly as entered. Variables are not resolved, so
{{field:…}}would be stored literally. - A value that doesn't fit the type (non-number, bad date, list option that doesn't exist) is an activation error.
- Setting the value it already has, or removing an attribute the contact doesn't have, is logged as a no-op.
- Changes fire the custom field updated webhook. They don't fire On Attribute Change.
Add to Broadcast List (add_to_broadcast)
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Broadcast lists | Tick one or more static lists. |
Adds the contact to each list (adding twice is harmless). Only static lists are offered; if you have none the node says "No static broadcast lists available". Dynamic lists re-evaluate their rules at send time, so adding to them has no effect (activation warning). See Segments.
Close Conversation (close_conversation)
No settings. Marks the chat closed, logs it, updates the inbox and sends the conversation closed webhook. If it was already closed, nothing else happens. The contact reopens as soon as they message again (which can start an On Open Conversation bot).
Opt Out (opt_out)
No settings. Marks the contact as opted out of messaging (method: button) and logs it.
