Create a Bot
Build your first WhatsApp bot in the LeadPattern visual builder — pick a trigger, add nodes to the canvas, connect them, and activate.
A bot is built on a visual canvas: you choose what starts it, then lay out the steps it takes. This guide walks through creating one from scratch.
Create the bot
Open Bots and create a new one
Go to Bots, click New Bot, give it a clear name, and open the editor.
Add and configure a trigger
On the Triggers tab, click the event that should start the bot (for example On Message). The trigger node appears on the canvas; configure it right on the node — here we add a keyword.
See Triggers for the full list and when each fires.
Add an action
Switch to the Actions tab and click an action (for example Send Message). The action node appears; fill in its settings directly on the node.
Connect the nodes
Drag from a node's output handle to the next node's input handle to set the order the flow runs in. Conditions and interactive replies can have more than one outgoing path.
Save and activate
Save the bot. You can Validate first to catch issues, and toggle the bot Active when you're ready — an inactive bot is ignored even if its trigger fires.
Personalize with variables
Text fields in message nodes support variables that are filled in at send time, so one message can greet every customer by name:
{{field:...}}pulls a built-in contact field — for example{{field:profileName}},{{field:name.first}},{{field:phone}}or{{field:waId}}.{{attr:...}}pulls a custom attribute by its slug — for example{{attr:plan}}.
Editing a live bot
When you change and save a bot that's already active, LeadPattern stops any runs that are currently in progress for it. This prevents half-finished flows from continuing against an older version of your logic. New triggers then start on the updated bot.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to know how to code to build a bot?
No. Bots are built entirely in a visual canvas. You click nodes from the palette to add them, connect them by dragging, and configure each one right on the node — no code required.
Can I edit a bot after it's live?
Yes. Open the bot in the builder and change its nodes. When you save, any flows currently in progress for that bot are stopped so they don't run against an outdated version.
Why didn't my bot run?
The most common reasons are that the bot isn't active, its trigger didn't match, or an earlier interactive reply took priority. Check the Bot Logs to see whether a run started at all.
