Conversation Metrics

Understand conversation metrics in LeadPattern — message volume, incoming versus outgoing, and how your team keeps up with customer chats.

2 min readUpdated Oct 5, 2026

Conversation metrics tell you how busy your inbox is and how well your team is keeping up. They look at the back-and-forth of real chats — not campaigns — so they're the best read on day-to-day customer support and sales conversations.

What the metrics cover

  • Conversation volume — how many conversations you're handling over the chosen period.
  • Incoming versus outgoing — the balance between messages from customers and replies from your team.
  • Activity over time — how volume rises and falls across the day, week or month.

Using the numbers

1

Spot your busy periods

Line up conversation volume against time of day or day of week to plan staffing.
2

Check the incoming/outgoing balance

A healthy inbox replies to most incoming messages. A growing gap can mean chats are going unanswered.
3

Connect it to the inbox

When volume is high, lean on assignment and filters to keep conversations owned and on track.
