What Is a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA)?

A plain-language explanation of the WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) that powers LeadPattern — what it is, how it relates to your phone number, and why business verification matters.

A WhatsApp Business Account — usually shortened to WABA — is the account Meta creates to hold your business's WhatsApp presence. It's the layer that sits between your phone number and the WhatsApp Business Platform, and it's what LeadPattern connects to on your behalf.

WABA, phone number and display name

It helps to keep three things separate:

  • WABA — the business account. It can hold one or more phone numbers and owns your templates and settings.
  • Phone number — the actual WhatsApp sender. Each number has its own messaging limit and quality rating.
  • Display name — the business name customers see in the chat header, reviewed by Meta.

Business verification

Meta asks businesses to complete business verification — confirming that your business is real and that you're authorised to use the number. Verification isn't just paperwork: it's what unlocks higher messaging limits and a verified presence.

1

Connect your number

During onboarding you connect your WhatsApp number to LeadPattern through Meta's secure sign-up.
2

Verify your business

Submit your business details to Meta for review inside the Meta Business settings.
3

Grow your limits

Once verified and sending quality messages, your daily messaging limit tiers up automatically.

How LeadPattern uses your WABA

When you connect WhatsApp, LeadPattern stores your WABA credentials securely and uses them to send messages, sync templates and receive incoming messages through Meta's official API. You keep full ownership of the account in Meta Business settings — LeadPattern never takes it over.
