WhatsApp Messaging Limits

How WhatsApp messaging limits work — the tiers that cap how many unique customers you can message per day, and how business verification and quality raise them.

A messaging limit is the number of unique customers your WhatsApp number can start conversations with in a rolling 24-hour period. It applies to business-initiated conversations — the ones you open with a template — not to replies inside an open window.

The tiers

WhatsApp raises your limit in steps as your number proves itself. The usual progression is:

  • 1,000 unique customers / 24 hours
  • 10,000 unique customers / 24 hours
  • 100,000 unique customers / 24 hours
  • Unlimited

New and unverified numbers typically start lower. As you send quality messages and complete business verification, Meta tiers you up automatically.

What moves you up

1

Complete business verification

Verifying your business with Meta is the biggest unlock for higher tiers.
2

Keep quality high

A healthy green quality rating is required to tier up — and a red one can push you back down.
3

Keep sending

Tiers increase as you consistently reach your current limit with well-received messages.

How this shows up in LeadPattern

If you try to start conversations with more unique customers than your limit allows — for example a large broadcast — the messages beyond your limit can be delayed or fail with a limit-related error. LeadPattern surfaces the failure reason on the message so you know it was a limit, not a mistake in your content.
